By the Department of Residential Education and Housing
The 2024-2025 Housing Application will be available starting Friday, December 1, 2023! Instructions for how to apply are on our website.
The deadline for returning residents to complete a housing application is Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
Students who apply by the deadline will be assigned a timeslot during which they select their room in late February.
As you and your student make decisions about living on campus, here are some things to consider:
- When students live on campus their first year and sophomore year, they are more likely to use campus resources, overcome academic challenges and connect to a broader campus network.
- A 2023 assessment by the Department of Residential Education and Housing found that students who received multiple cautions or unsatisfactories on their mid-term progress reports were more likely to overcome those academic challenges and remain at TCNJ, if they lived on campus.
- Programming and services in campus housing are geared towards supporting student success. Students are housed with other students in their class year to provide targeted information and education related to their developmental needs. Student staff (CAs) have regular one-on-one coaching conversations with residents to identify and understand their goals, communicate relevant resources and follow up with any additional support needs.
- All of our upperclass student housing and most of our sophomore housing has air conditioning. All of our spaces for sophomores, juniors and seniors have private bathrooms. In order to see our housing for those cohorts, please review our newly launched virtual room tours.
- Starting in Fall 2024, we are anticipating a $500 per semester price differential between single and double spaces. The final cost for housing will be determined at the July 2024 Board of Trustee’s meeting.
- Living on campus allows for more flexibility. If you take a leave of absence, study abroad or graduate early, you are released from your housing contract in accordance with our refund process. If you have roommate issues that cannot be resolved, we have a room change process. If you live off campus or in Campus Town, you are generally locked into a yearlong lease, regardless of personal circumstances.
If your student has questions about housing on campus, please refer them to our office in Eickhoff 114 or to housing@tcnj.edu.
