March 2023 Parent & Family Newsletter: Student Life Spring 2023 Events and How to get involved

The end of the spring semester is an exciting time on campus and Student Life has a number of events coming up.  Whether it’s your students last semester with us or they are finishing up their first year there is something for everyone to look forward to!

Rec Takeover will take place on Thursday, April 20.  During this event, Recreation and Wellness takes over the Recreation Center and surrounding spaces such as parking lots, tennis courts,  and sidewalks to offer various events and activities for students.  Another fun end of the semester event is, Funival which is planned by The College Union Board (CUB).  This carnival style event is Friday, May 5 (the last day of classes) and is a great opportunity for students to celebrate all of their accomplishments over the past year.  Check out a video from last year’s event!

While the end of the semester can be a lot of fun for students, it can also be stressful as they finish up assignments and prepare for finals.  Student Government will host Finals Fest all throughout reading days and finals to help your student relieve stress.  Additionally, Student Life hosts Cram Jam which will take place on Monday, May 8 in the Brower Student Center.  The event will feature study spaces, coffee, snack breaks and more.

There is a lot to do on campus for the rest of the semester so encourage your students to read This Week @ TCNJ every Monday so they don’t miss out.

Our Graduating seniors have a lot to look forward to including Last Night on the Lake on Wednesday, May 17.  The Senior Class Council is planning this annual event which will have a celebratory toast, fireworks, firepits and more!  Seniors will be receiving more information via email about the event soon.

If your student is still looking for ways to get involved, there are always opportunities to do so.  They can complete the Student Organization Involvement Calculator to be matched with organizations based on their interests and academic major.  They can also explore all of the organizations on our website and search by keywords.  You can also encourage them to plan ahead and attend the Involvement Fair in the fall which will take place in the first week of school.  For more information you can visit our website.
